Client Help!

Three steps toward a successful website

The cost of developing a web site depends on many factors, including the number of pages on the site, the types of features that you want in your site, and the level of your involvement in the process.

Many Website development firms have fixed rates based on pages, graphics, links, etc. This can become very expensive to the client. Therefore, we customize our proposals to our clients based on process, not product. For example, if you come to us with a well developed idea of how your site should be organized and you can provide us with the page content in a form that's ready to be processed, then you have already done much of the work.

Our time can be spent making your ideas a reality rather than figuring out how your information should be organized and working on various proposed design schemes. The following sections gives you Three Easy Steps to develop your site.

The 3 Basic Steps
We can help you complete the development of your web site with the Three easy steps below:

The Purpose of your web site: This will determine the structure of the entire site.

The Content of your web site: You tell us what you want to say on each page.

The Style of your web site: Our team of web designers will give your site the look you want!!

The following sections will take you through each step in detail...

The Purpose of your website
This is important because the Purpose determines the Structure of your web site. People will visit and return to your site if your information is understandable and easy to navigate. Once you have determined the purpose of your site, you need to make a site map of your web site that best serves your Purpose.

The following items are common purposes for most web sites. Pick the one that best describes your site:

E-Commerce - Selling product/services on site.

Advertising/Exposure - To an expanded global market online to provide info about your business.

News/Publication - Providing info of a certain public or private interest.

Networking - Enhanced Communication between associates/partners over a great distance with email, etc.

Online Entertainment - Providing entertainment of a certain interest.

Online Communities - Providing a unique internet experience for those with a particular interest or similar backgrounds.

The Site Map
Below is an example of a site map.We can help you make one or you can write it yourself if you like.

(This is the site map of Resourcesplus.com Note: Not all sites need to show a site map for Example; a five page website has less reason to display a site map than say a website with 25 or more pages. However all websites should use a sitemap for organization/management purposes.)

Note; Each section is a page on the site. The pages with Bullets are linked to the page just above it with the dark colored Bullet.(The page labeled "Terms & Conditions" follows the same rule only it uses a different looking bullet because it starts a new level under the page labeled "Order Form".)

The Content of Your Web site
On your site map: For each page that appears on the site map, you will need to provide the Content in words or text . This can be written but we prefer it to be typed on a computer & saved on a disk as a Word File of some type.

The Page named "Home" is followed by parenthesis that tell what graphic is on this Page. The graphic in this case is a computer graphic called a GIF (.gif) file but it can also be a photo or artwork of your own if you like. On your site map you will write in what graphic, if any, that appear on each page as it is shown in the above Example.

Note; Each section is a page on the site. The pages with Bullets are linked to the page just above it with the dark colored Bullet.(The page labeled "Terms & Conditions" follows the same rule only it uses a different looking bullet because it starts a new level under the page labeled "Order Form".)

Putting it all Together
When you are done, you should have three things to present;

  • Your written or typed site map
  • Your Content (Typed Word files) for each page on your site map
  • Your Graphics (Computer Graphics,Photos, Artwork,Etc.) if any, for each page on your Site either on disk or as hardcopy.
Now you have successfully started the developement of your website and are now well on your way to the Virtual World!!!
